Last week was all about making a mess, then cleaning up the mess, so it makes sense that this week would be all about getting organised again, after the mess that was made. Let’s just say that if the month of May was a competition, this week would totally be winning it.
First of all, I organised my dressing table, and just in case you didn’t get to see enough photos of that in yesterday’s post, there’s another one up top for you. You’re welcome. I’d like to be able to say that’s the last you’ll be seeing of the dressing table for a while, but honestly, it’s not even the last you’ll be seeing of that bunch of pink roses that’ve been in all my photos this week.
Once the bedroom was all done, I thought it would be nice if every week I went out and bought a fresh bunch of flowers to provide that “pop of colour” everyone talks about. Well, this is the first one, and they’re still going strong, so maybe I’ll do that every two weeks instead, we’ll see. Seriously, though, the white space makes it so much easier to take photos, as the camera roll on my phone testifies:
It’s a good job he likes having his photo taken, huh?
(Seriously, that dog LOVES having his photo taken. He literally comes running when he sees me with the camera, and will sit and patiently pose while I snap away. I think he must know how cute he is…)
But I was talking about organisation, which is, after all, one of my favourite subjects. I worked out fairly recently that organising things is basically my form of meditation – it makes me feel all calm and zen, which is why I had tons o’ fun this week sorting my various belongings into the Ikea storage boxes I showed you in last week’s post:
So satisfying, seriously. The best moment was when I realised my Sleep In Rollers fit perfectly into the largest of the boxes, almost as if it had been made for them:
SO much better than the ratty old plastic bag they came in, which I’ve been meaning to replace since… well, since I bought them, basically.
In other news, my Fitbit obsession is still going strong, and this week saw the arrival of the Tory Burch bracelet for it, which I mentioned in my review post, and, full-disclosure, purchased using Shopbop vouchers:
I went for the rose gold version, to match my Michael Kors watch*, and as soon as it arrived, I became instantly trapped inside it, totally unable to undo the clasp. I was actually starting to panic a little, thinking I was going to have to have it sawn off or something, when Terry managed to undo it with one flick of the thumb. He then spent the next ten minutes rolling his eyes in my general direction, and saying, “But it was SO. SIMPLE.” I, meanwhile, spent the next ten minutes getting stuck AGAIN, but being too embarrassed to tell him. I’ve now managed to figure it out (and, as is always the way of it, I seriously have no idea why I couldn’t do it before), but damn, that thing was tricky.
As I said in my review, I’m not wearing this around the house, or for workouts, sleeping etc, but I have been wearing it when I’m going out somewhere: I was wearing it in this post, actually, and I think it worked a lot better with the outfit than the black rubber band would have, so at least if I get stuck in it again, I can comfort myself with the knowledge that at least it goes with just about everything…
Finally, when we redecorated the bedroom, I discovered I now have the perfect place to take bad mirror selfies, so naturally I’ve been… taking bad mirror selfies. Badly.
(Yes, there’s that Fitbit bracelet again. Also my faithful J Crew ‘Minnie’ pants, pink Zara sweater, Missguided sandals and RED Valentino handbag*)
I’ve no idea why I’ve been doing this, if I’m honest. The art of the mirror selfie is an art that has always eluded me, and for reasons I’ve yet to uncover, mine always come out blurry. I was going to try and do these all week, as some kind of “here’s what I really wear” post, but then I realised an alternate title for that would be “Look How Often I Wear Capri Pants”, so I ditched that idea, and went back to taking endless photos of Rubin, my dressing table, and sometimes Rubin AND my dressing table. I’ll save those for next week’s post, though.
(Or IS it?)
